The picturesque village of Torvizcon nestles at the foot of Las Alpujarras. An unspoilt traditional Spanish farming village where you are as likely to meet a mule as a motor car! Situated one hour from Granada and 45 minutes from the coast, culture, countryside, beaches and skiing are all within easy reach.
With a population of just under 1000, the village has 4 bars plus a
hotel and pension, both of which serve meals. There are also 3 small
supermarkets, bakery, butchers, fishmongers and a weekly vegetable stall
enabling you to do all your shopping without leaving the village. The
traveling market visits on the 1st and 16th of every month with a
selection of clothing, plants, nuts & olives etc. For a wider range of
shops and a bustling Thursday market, the town of Orgiva is just 20
kilometers away. The village pool is open during the months of July and
August and there are numerous fiestas throughout the year, the largest of
these being the St Antonio Abad (fiesta of fire) in January.
Popular with Spanish tourists but as yet relatively undiscovered by other nationalities, Torvizcon is an extremely friendly pueblo blanco and an ideal place to observe and enjoy the traditional Spanish way of life.
